Paid Time Off (PTO)
MGM Resorts International humbly introduced an unrestricted paid time off policy to 3,000 or more managers last year. MGM establish this policy called “flex time.” Those who do not fulfill this requirement are hourly employees. MGM’s top executive had receive vacation time, however if MGM plans to increase these bonuses to managers and supervisors it would affect the culture change within the company because employees are likely to be distraught when the management changes the vacation policies, mentioned by Michelle DiTondo, MGM’s senior vice president of human resources.
With MGM’s new policy it had alleviate some stress on the management team. MGM has obtained other companies with different vacation policies, human resources and payroll offices that led to confusion to keep things all together. Today, it’s required to have an equal vacation policy for all managers.
1.“This is particular to Signature at MGM Grand I'm not sure if other MGM properties are the same. Currently you accrue a certain number of hours for PTO per pay period. That can be used throughout the year excluding designated blackout dates. You can carry over 80 hours of PTO from year to year. You also get 14 days per year for unscheduled time off (aka calling out sick). They've done away with all holidays. Up until this last year Christmas was the only official holiday that you would get holiday pay for, but now there aren't any days that count as holidays for them. Hope this helps someone.” – MGM Employee
2.“MGM recently changed their time off policy to one of the most generous in the industry - making them an employer of choice.” - Current Vice President in Las Vegas, Nevada
3.“Pretty standard vacation breakdown. It is a use it or lose it setup - there is no rolling over of days off.” - Former Director of Human Resources in Las Vegas, Nevada
